I got this for my son at Toys’R'us at $19.99, and figured we should get the red Vader one so we can play together. It turned out they had a buy one and get the second one at 50% off, and then another $3 off sale. I ended up getting 2 of them for $27. No complaints here. I can’t believe they can make stuff so cheap these days. This thing is actually pretty good looking. The sound effects are phenomenal. Switch it on for a satisfying swoosh, wave it around for that light saber buzz, hit something for that crackle sound and finally shut it down to hear movie-like effect. FX saber sounds at fraction of the price. The light does not seem that bright, but it helps to be in a dim room. extracting and retracting the blade is what it is….
My son and I watched the mini-DVD with all the cool light saber duels from original trilogy to the new clone wars animations, and had several matches. My son loves it! My wife wants to play because the sound effects are so cool! Tons of fun! I think it’s shorter and smaller than the FX one, so if you’re a die-hard patiwan training for your Jedi master status, stick with the replicas and spend your hundreds elsewhere, but if you’re buying for a kid and want the bang for the buck, I believe this to be the most “realistic” light saber out there.
