As much as my children (ages 7, 4 and 2) despise Darth Vader, this lightsaber is the best quality lightsaber that we have purchased. It sees over 3 hours of use per day, and has lasted for over 6 months! One word of caution–it is heavy, and can be quite dangerous for little ones due to it’s weight.

I got these for a comic con costume that I’m not going to have. However, the sabers are still nice. The hilt feels a little large, but the spring action is cool. I haven’t really played with them, I just took them out of the package to test out, and then put them back. But they seem solid enough for some light saber fighting; Ep 6 style, not Ep 1.

They would serve great as toys for the kids, or for a costume if you don’t want to pay for an FX blade, or want something that can actually be hooked on a belt. However, there is no hook, haven’t figured that part out yet.

All and all, very cool Lightsabers!!

We own both this red “Darth Vader” lightsaber and the purple “Mace Windu” one. Both work fairly well — they activate easily, light up, and make the appropriate sounds. Also, they’ve been fairly durable to sustain all the clashes. One note I would make is that this red lightsaber is not as comfortable, due to the design of the grip, so you have a more limited positioning of the hands. Also, this one is a little flakier at times out of the box. Specifically, when you close the lightsaber, the sounds and lights activate again, so you must hold it close, and flip the switch to shut it down again. The purple one didn’t have this problem, so it’s difficult to identify if this a problem with this model or the particular product that we received.

Overall, the flakiness and the grip were not dealbreakers, and it’s been fun. Also, this is the only red lightsaber in the product line, so you don’t have a lot of options.

My children each received a lightsaber for Christmas and they have so much fun with them! My daughter’s stopped lighting up and making the sounds but we were able to receive a replacement very quickly and it seems to be holding up nicely.

The light only worked inside for a few days. Now the kids just use it like a regular sword.
